hidden Path causes issue on some situation

Assume remote logon windows server through terminal service by Admin account named John,and c:\users\John folder is in R77's Hidden list,event log(eventvwr.msc) works fine until trying to close it,always result in no reponse,need to force terminate it.seem like even log trying to read or save stuff in the hidden folder on exit but fail and it keeps trying non-stop

I can hardly imagine how to hide the home directory of a user without applications crashing here and there, since it's much frequented and commonplace.

Besides - how are you intending to hide the presence of an entire Windows user? You have that directory, an entire registry hive, and other places to take care of... Isn't there another way?

just wondering how hiding a path could cause unable to access the file inside that hidden folde,probably the graph interface does things different from the console,which has no issue accessing the hidden folder along with files inside that folder.
juat encounter that issue doing random test and you are right,hiding the home folder of a user could cause that user logon failure(seem like explorer would hang forever and consume all cpu usage)

Normally, hiding a directory does nothing to prevent acessing files within it. That's intended, because otherwise files within that directory would be entirely inaccessible. Enumerating that directory works, too. But enumerating the parent directory will not contain the hidden directory.

Since applications running in your OS are complex, you cannot safely assume that they access a directory directly and never enumerate the parent directory, etc. Somewhere in the implementation that assumption fails, and so does the process, hence, it crashes.
