SharePoint Online: Site Home Page Disappears from Search When Set as Home

In SharePoint Online, when a modern Site Page is set as the Site Home page, it disappears from Microsoft Search results. If the same page is later removed as Home page, it reappears in search without any other changes.

This behavior is consistent and reproducible across tenants.

Observed Behavior

• A modern Site Page (e.g. Test.aspx or any custom page) appears in search results initially.
• Once the page is set as Site Home page
• The page no longer appears in search results
• If the page is later unset as Home page
• The page appears again in search results
